Meditating on bass weight

It’s time to get into this bloggin’ thing for real so what better subject there could be than the the artist that get me into dubstep. That man is Mala. Couple of the first dubstep tunes that hit me big time was Mala’s Changes and Lean Forward. Those (and some other Deep MEDI Musik‘s, DMZ, etc) tunes were the reason why I started to listen and play dubstep. Deep Medi Musik just put out a compilation CD where you can find some great older dubstep tunes which have been only available on vinyl and maybe even sold out. There you can find also the absolut dubstep classic (and Stinks favourite?? tune) Loefah’s Disco Rekah. There have been a lot of interesting mixtapes going on but this Gilles Peterson Worldwide Vol.2 No.15 // Mala podcast have been hyped up at the forums and not for nothing. Great tracks by Mala and really interesting interwiev about his musical roots, dubplate culture and the evolution of the dubstep movement. Just check it out.

Mala also organizes the DMZ clubnights at Brixton and those nights have been described as one of dubstep’s most influential regular clubnights. It’s about a month to the next DMZ birthday bashes and I’m not so happy because I can’t go there for the lack of money and time. We were there last year with Stinks and couple of other guys and the atmosphere was awesome. Check out some pictures I found from internet from here (Pictures taken by Ashes57). I really recommend to go to the 5th DMZ B-Day Bash if anyway possible. Line up ain’t confirmed yet but it doesn’t matter because it will be wicked anyway.
